Checking out life with Kim

Awesome Birthday

Well as the day slowly comes to an end, I have to say that I had a pretty awesome birthday.  First thing this morning (before my coffee lol) my daughter played me the “happy birthday” song on her violin.  Then it was off to school for two kids which meant I had the whole house to myself for the day.  Then after supper my husband gave me my presents as well as the cake which just happened to be my most favorite type of cake in the whole wide world, Black Forest Cake.  And with plenty of phone calls and well wishes from all my Internet buddies, it turned out to be a really great day.  And the final pleasure of my day was hearing from my oldest son expressing his well wishes.  So for an old broad turning 40, I have to say the day turned out pretty great.

Worst feeling in the world

I can’t imagine feeling any worse in life than if someone stole my identity. This particular problem has never happened to me, but it has happened to a lot of people and it seems to be getting worse every year. There would be no feeling like having someone come in and steal everything that you worked so hard for over your entire life. But these things do happen and we have to be constantly aware that it can happen to anyone.

Because this problem has gotten so bad in recent years, I have been doing a little research to see how I can effectively keep my own identity safe. I have discovered the lifelock system. For a small fee, this company will help you to keep your identity safe from thieves. They will notify you when anyone tries to access any of your information. By getting this notification early enough, you can stop these people and have the time to contact the proper authorities to take care of the individual.

In a world of turbulent times, the only way to remain safe is through preventative measures and life lock will help you to do this.

Isn’t this always the way life turns out.  For the past couple of days, you couldn’t ask for better weather.  The sun was shining and the temperatures reached well into their late teens.  But today when my son’s class is scheduled to go on an outdoor field trip, it’s raining and they are predicting rain for the rest of the day.  Even if it rains, they are still going, but they won’t be having their picnic.  If it rains they will be having to eat their lunch in the bus.  That kind of sucks.  Why couldn’t it have been sunny today or they have their field trip yesterday?  Oh well that’s the way life is some times.  You can predict the weather.  You just have to work with it.

Living life in my pants

240x180

This probably sounded like a really silly post title to you all. But come on now, were all allowed to have a few silly days now and then don’t you think? Well today is one of those days for me. I’ve been sitting here in my favorite pair of Dockers and all of a sudden I started wondering what my pants would say if they had the opportunity to talk.

I think my pants would tell me that I spend way too much time sitting on my backside in front of my computer. Not only is this lack of activity hard on my body physically due to lack of exercise, but it’s also hard on the seat of my pants. Being squished and sat on all day can’t feel very good. I think my pants would very much enjoy a run around the neighborhood just to clear out any cobwebs and wrinkles. Thankfully my pants can’t talk or I would be running around a lot more than I do. I think my pants could be quite nasty if given the chance. But I do have the opportunity to delve into this concept a little deeper through the Dockers contest.

If silly little things like your pants having a conversation with you amuses you, then why not create your own video about your pants talking to you or about a day in the life of your favorite pants and submit it to the Dockers contest. It’s a really easy contest to enter and there are a lot of great prizes to be won. So..get up off your seat, give your pants a break and enter!!

So you want to be scared?

Unknown

It really amazes me sometimes on how well my husband and I are so compatible, when we actually don’t have a lot in common. I like drama and comedies and he just loves horror movies. The scarier and more frightening the better. Me on the other hand, don’t care for any scary movie that comes out on the market.

So when I came across this Trailer for the newest horror movie to hit the theaters, I just had to show it to my husband. By viewing this trailer, he was able to see bits and pieces of the movies and he liked what he saw. But because they don’t want to give away the movie in the trailer, you are only given enough information to get you completely pumped up to go to the theaters.

Now he wants me to check out the listings to see when the movie Frontier(s) will be in the theater’s near us. I found out that they will be showing the movie in our area on May 9. So he has already stated that he wants to go to see what all the hype and controversy are all about. Most movies that are unrated such as this one, never see the inside of a theater so there is a major controversy as to why this movie is being allowed in theaters. After watching the trailer, I have to wonder this myself.

If your a major horror movie fan such as my husband then your not going to want to miss this movie. As I said it’s in theaters May 9. But due to it’s extreme graphical nature, viewer desecration is recommended.

He had a good day

So if you’ve read any of my earlier posts, you would know that on Friday I was a little down in the dumps.  My oldest son’s birthday was on Friday and he turned 19.  No, I wasn’t upset because he was turning 19.  I was upset because for the first time ever he wouldn’t be home to celebrate his birthday.  Last May he moved quite far away and he hasn’t been home since.  It would have been nice if he could have made it home for this occasion, but he couldn’t so that made me a little sad.

The good news is is that he had a really great day despite not being home.  We talked over some e-mails and on the phone.  Although he was a little sad as well that he wasn’t home, he still had a great birthday and spent the night with friends.  Hopefully things will work out soon and he will be able to come home for a visit.  But as long as I know he is healthy and happy I guess that’s all I can expect for now.  Knowing he had a good day did make me feel happier.

Gifts for me

I just love the month of May. On May 9th is my birthday and then a couple of days later is mother’s day. So in the month of May I tend to receive a lot of gifts from my family. Although my two younger kids are a little young to be going shopping for mothers day gifts and birthday presents, my husband usually buys me a present and tells them to give it to me. But, he is running out of ideas.

So this year I have directed him to a site over at 1800flowers.com where he can purchase my mothers day present as well as a birthday present. I just love the flower arrangements that they make up and if he makes a purchase from this site, I have told him that he really only needs to buy one present for both occasions. Both my mother and his mother are no longer with us, so all he needs to purchase is one mothers day present. And 1800flowers.com is the ideal store to make this purchase. So if you want to show your mom how much she’s loved, then why not drop by this site and have these people custom make a one of a kind present for her.

Last week both kids came home from school with permission slips to go on a field trip.  Not only did I need to sign the papers to say that they could go, but I also checked off that I would drive both kids to the field trip as well.  I figured since both classes were going TOGETHER, why not.  This way I could drive them both at the same time and they would both have mom at their field trip.

Man, did I ever screw up.  Yesterday my son’s teacher called me to inform me that although both kids are going to the same destination, they are going at different times.  So I can’t take them both together. lol  But since I already told them both that I would go, now I have to go on this field trip at two different times.

I have been saying lately that I really need to get my eyes tested and after seeing two different papers but not realizing that there were two different times, I think I’m going to make that eye appointment.

Stolen monkey

Earlier this week I was horrified to hear that some stupid ***hole stole a valuable prize monkey from our local zoo.  Not only was this bad because this little monkey was just a baby, only three pounds and sick, but this particular monkey was on loan to our zoo from another zoo.  The father of this monkey was brought over here to breed with the mother monkey.  This type of monkey is extremely rare and they are trying to build up this population.

Thankfully yesterday the police got an anonymous tip that the little fellow was in a tote behind a dumpster.  At least whoever stole the little guy, sort of gave him back.  He was no worse for wear and he is now re-united with his parents and brother.  I don’t think the police will ever find the person who stole him, but I really wish they would and then throw  the book at them.  Who ever is stupid and sick enough to steal a sick monkey really needs to pay the price.
