Checking out life with Kim

Extreme heat and humidity

For the past three days we are in an extreme heat wave. We have broken records that were set over 20 years ago and it doesn’t look like it’s going to end any time soon. So… as much as I hate shopping, I’m going shopping today. The only reason I’m going is so that me and the children will be able to walk around in air conditioned stores. I’ll probably just browse for a while and dream about items like a new LCD TV that I probably won’t be purchasing any time soon. This house is way to hot to stick around in so I guess we will have to hit the malls.

Crafting business

This past week I have made some serious strides in resurrecting my home crafting business. I haven’t done a whole lot of crafting but I’ve been doing a lot of research on the business aspect of it all. When the kids go back to school I then plan on crafting quite a bit every day. I love to craft so turning my hobby into a business just makes sense to me. The kids are still home for about another week so I think this will give me plenty of time to get my space set up. Then after they are back in school I can really dig my heels in and make a go out of this business.

Time moving on

There is less than two weeks left before my children are back in school. To say this is an event that makes me seriously happy, is a major understatement. This has been a very long summer and I can’t wait until it’s over. My son is going into grade 5 and my daughter is going into 7. I have most of their school supplies and clothes bought but still need to pick up a few items. I’m really hoping the next two weeks goes by fast. Then I will have my summer vacation. lol

Murder!

Once again there was a murder in our town over the weekend. This little safe community is starting to be not so safe anymore. I’m really starting to get a little frightened. It’s pretty bad these days when a person can’t even walk down the road without being in fear of their lives. The police do have a suspect. But not arrests have been made. I’ve wanted to move from this area for a very long time. But now I want to move even more. I honestly can’t believe how bad things are getting around here lately.

New career opportunity

As you all know I do some general transcription work from home. And I absolutely love it! Well lately I have been doing a bit of medical transcription as well and I have discovered that I absolutely love working in this field. So I have been thinking about enrolling in a medical assistant school and making this line of work my new career. I have checked out several different sites online and have discovered that this is something that I think I could be really good at. The kids go back to school in three weeks and when they do, I really do think I’m going to look into this type of career a little bit more closely.

Not much work

For the past couple of weeks my online work has been pretty slow. And although this means not much money for me coming in, it really is kind of a nice break. During the month of July I was so busy working online that I didn’t have much of a home life. So the last couple of weeks have actually been pretty relaxing. I’m sure my online work will pick up pretty soon (it always does). And until then I’m just going to enjoy this little bit of extra time that I get to enjoy with the family.

House hunting

This past weekend we had a long weekend in our area. So my husband and I were both of work (sort of). He was on call all weekend so we couldn’t travel very far. But we still managed to fit a full weekend in. On Saturday and Sunday we attended a lot of open houses trying to find that perfect place. We did find one that we both really liked. It came equipped with Elkay faucets, two fireplaces and a dishwasher.

We both loved it so much that we are seriously considering putting in an offer. We have an appointment tomorrow morning with the bank to see what kind of financing we can get and then we’ll make a decision. And of course, I’ll let you all know the outcome.
