He had a good day

So if you’ve read any of my earlier posts, you would know that on Friday I was a little down in the dumps. My oldest son’s birthday was on Friday and he turned 19. No, I wasn’t upset because he was turning 19. I was upset because for the first time ever he wouldn’t be home to celebrate his birthday. Last May he moved quite far away and he hasn’t been home since. It would have been nice if he could have made it home for this occasion, but he couldn’t so that made me a little sad.
The good news is is that he had a really great day despite not being home. We talked over some e-mails and on the phone. Although he was a little sad as well that he wasn’t home, he still had a great birthday and spent the night with friends. Hopefully things will work out soon and he will be able to come home for a visit. But as long as I know he is healthy and happy I guess that’s all I can expect for now. Knowing he had a good day did make me feel happier.

I’m glad you were able to hear from him and he is doing well. I can just imagine that not seeing him for a long time is breaking your heart. How far away is he?
Hi Kim,
I don’t know your circumstances with your son, but I know how hard it is not to be able to celebrate those special events in their life, I missed many with my son.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and offering to be my friend at SS, that was very sweet. I was being facetious when I wrote that part about being friendless and I’m not even sure that I’ll participate until they get all the bugs and pricing to my liking.
