My small house has just gotten smaller

I am always grateful when someone gives me something for free that I could use, but this past week my father in law dropped off a lot of furniture to my house and all of a sudden my house has gotten a whole lot smaller. He is moving from a four bedroom home to a two bedroom home so he needs to downsize quite a bit. And he has decided that I need to have all his old furniture. So far he has given me a china cabinet, two beds, a dresser and two computer desks. He thinks the kids need a computer desk each even though they each don’t have a computer of their own. If it sounds like I’m complaining, really I’m not.
But, I just don’t know where I’m going to put all this stuff. He has already started making noises about giving us more stuff and I have tried to put a stop to it. But my husband says to let him do what he wants to do and we will either make room for all of it, or do something else with it. So if I end up with a broken leg after tripping over all this stuff, then I only have my father in law or my husband to blame. LOL

Looks like the consignment shop is going to be filled up or the local goodwill. It is hard to get rid of things given to you, but it is hard to object if you slowly give away those things you don’t need to charity. Not all at once, but in pieces.
I know how furniture can overtake a house. When I had to clear out my dad’s house, I would have liked to have kept more of his stuff but just couldn’t possibly fit in any more furniture. I was able to sell quite a bit on eBay . . . just something you may want to consider. People were willing to come and pick it up!
hmmm sounds like we’re gonna be experiencing the same for my husband’s father is gonna get rid all his things next week.
you can have things listed on e-bay if you don’t need them. huh, extra bucks you can get if you have them sold! lolz..
What “Texas Sweetie” tells is correct. You can e-bay them to get rid of those old stuff. Old is Gold… You know? (lol)
I know how these things can fill up a house. I still live with my folks (hey I am only 22) in a small terrace house and we use every single inch of space, and when people start giving you furniture you wonder where it will go.
Mind you eBay is your friend, or the local salvation shop etc.

If I’m in your shoes, I’ll take those furnitures and keep them all in a room first, then proceed to sell them off at the local junk shop or on ebay. But don’t let your father-in-law know you sold them off : )
