Book Review: Play Dirty

One of my favorite hobbies has definitely got to be reading. I mainly read romance and historical romance. And when I find a book that I absolutely love, I just have to share it with you all. Well I’m happy to report that I just finished reading a book by Sandra Brown and I could barely put it down. I was extremely fortunate to receive a free copy from Simon & Schuster to read and I have to say that I was not disappointed. So now I’m going to give you all a brief summary of the book that I just finished.

What does a famous fallen football star and a couple of millionaires have in common? Well, not much except the football star wants money and the millionaires want a heir. Griff Burkett was a well known hero until he was caught cheating in the game of football. He spent five long years in prison. When he got out, he was summoned by millionaires Foster Speakerman and Laura Speakerman to do a job. The job was to impregnate Laura to give the couple a heir. Due to an accident two years earlier, the Speakerman’s were unable to perform this job themselves. For his services and his continued silence he would be compensated greatly.
But all these plans went array when Foster decided he didn’t nee Griff any longer after he got Laura pregnant. He tried to have him killed, but ended up being killed himself. This is when the story gets interesting. A very corrupt police officer decides to go after Griff for the murder. There are many twists and turns in the story and when you think you have things just about figured out, Sandra Brown throws another curve ball in the mix.
I have been reading Sandra Brown’s books for quite a while now and I have to say that this book was probably one of her best. So if you want to read a book that covers all the elements and will keep you turning the pages for more, then I highly suggest you get yourself a copy of Play Dirty.
This is one of Brown’s best books. Even though I don’t care about or understand football at all, I was totally wrapped up in the characters and the plot!
Sandra Brown does write the HOTTEST crime novels.
I love Sandra Brown and I’ve been eyeballing this one for quite awhile. I’m glad to hear it’s good and I’ll have to just suck it up and buy it!
I read my first Sandra Brown novel when I was in Jr. High about 14 years ago. Since then I have been on the lookout for her books. While I love her older romance novels (Another Dawn was the first one I read – I come from a family of Romance Novelholics.) I am impressed with her newer novels even more. I am pretty sure I have read all of her books and Play Dirty was one of my favorites so far. Can’t wait to read her newest one that came out in August. I will get to it right after I finish the latest Kathy Reichs book.
