The storm that never happened
Sep 29th, 2008 by Kim
Over the weekend we were suppose to get our first official hurricane. They were predicting sever rains and massive wind. But…all the hoopla and it didn’t happen. Everyone around here was going crazy getting prepared. Yesterday the grocery stores were packed with people purchasing water, batteries and candles. My husband even went out and purchased a small generator.
Now if it sounds like I’m complaining. Really I’m not. I’m quite thankful that we didn’t get what they were calling for. All we mainly got was a little bit of wind and a whole lot of rain. There were no power outages in sight and the only thing that got damaged was a police cruiser (a tree fell on it). The kids were a little disappointed as they thought they wouldn’t have to go to school today.
It’s funny now isn’t it. If no one was prepared then we would have probably been hit bad. But because we were all prepared and just waiting for it, it never arrived. Thank god. Now we can get back to the land of living.
From years of experience dealing with hurricanes while living in south Florida, I am glad this one passed you by. They can be so devastating. Save those canned goods and bottled water, you never know when you may need them.
I’m glad that it didn’t come as planned. The generator will always come in handy.
I also wanted to let you know that you have just received a most prestigious award. You can swing by my site, http://mrmomsunite.blogspot.com , to pick it up…the paparazzi are already there and waiting for you.
