Switched hosts
Oct 7th, 2008 by Kim
Goodbye Bluehost. Hello Hostgator.
Well as you can see I just recently switched blogging hosts. There was a reason for this. Although I have spent a little over a year with Bluehost, I have become increasingly disappointed and frustrated with their service. The main reason for this is because every time you turn around my sites were down. Not just one mind you, but all of them. And when I contacted Bluehost to find out what the problem was, I was always told that it was down for site maintenance. OK. I can understand site maintenance, but I couldn’t understand why they didn’t send me an e-mail and give me a heads up that this was going to happen. Let’s put it this way, I was not impressed.
So I started looking around for a new host. On the advice of a friend I decided to try Hostgator. One of the best things that I like about this site is that if your not completely satisfied, they will give you a full refund up until 45 days. That’s a pretty good length of time to try out their service. The other thing that I just absolutely love about this site is that they transferred all my blogs over. I didn’t have to do a thing except for fill out the transfer form. And for a computer dummy like myself, this type of service is well worth the money I am now paying Hostgator every month.
So I have only been with them for a week so I can’t really give you all a valued opinion about the site yet. But after a few months I’ll let you all know whether or not this was the correct move for me.
Oh my goodness. I hope I don’t start having trouble with BH. You might have to help me switch! I am clueless when it comes to this stuff.
Heya Kim,
I know all too well the frustration of sites being down, it is one of the reasons that I moved to my own dedicated server, so it took out the middleman basically.
Hope all goes well for you on the new host.

I wasn’t aware that you were having problems. The reason i say that is because I have consistently had problems with Bluehost the entire time I’ve had their service. My sites have been down at least once a week since I’ve had them. If I were home during the day and had to be one the computer I’m sure I would be ready to scream if the site was down. Most of the time it just affects me in the evening.
Good luck with this new one. I’ll be switching over in early spring.
may be you can try dreamhost it’s become more and more better services in there
Kim what a smart person you are.
I’ve been Bluehosed for going on 6 years now.
today I got so fed up, I called them and demanded they do
something to fix my php errors.
I also used the ATTORNEY Word, and Mentioned Court for a total of 5 years of damages, which I luckily have documented in the years of logs, I have downloaded from the backside
before they had a chance to remove the evvidence.
that’s the key – get the evidence before they remove it.
It Took 3 months of DAILY calls to finally get something done about something that’s NOT MY FAULT.. that makes me know it’s time to move on to a better host.
please post your experience as you move along with your new host so that others readers like myself can follow you and make the trend toward better hosting a reality.
Phoey on Blue Hose !
But, BlueHost was recommended by Wordpress as a good WP hosting? So,how bout HostGator seem right now? Are they reliable?
