Major decision made
Oct 29th, 2008 by Kim
So as you know, about two months ago I returned to the workforce. I decided to go back to my old employer but in a different capacity. When I worked for them previously, I was an assistant manager and a waitress. The managing part of my job I did not especially like, but the waitress part, I just loved. Well this time around I went back as a kitchen supervisor and I just hate it!! I kind of knew I would as I’m really not a cook, but I figured for the extra money I could deal with it. Well I have started to really hate going in there for my shifts. So I have made a huge decision. In June I will be giving my notice and leaving. I will not return unless I have a reliable sitter and am able to work full time as a waitress. Honestly that’s really what I am and no amount of talking myself into it is going to change this.
When I informed my husband of my decision, he was quite happy. He knew I probably wouldn’t like it and wouldn’t end up staying, but he also knew it was something I needed to find out for myself. Now hopefully I can last until June. But if I could find a way to make an extra hundred dollars a week, I wouldn’t even stay until June. The paycheck is really the only reason that I have decided to stick it out until June.
Nothing wrong with being a good waitress–especially if you liked it. That’s the important thing. June is a long way off to be in a job you hate. Money really isn’t worth it. My free, unsolicited advice is to find a waitress job somewhere right away and do what you like. If you’re not happy in your work, it will drain you and life is too short to waste time in a job you hate.
Well, at least you tried. Good for you on coming to your decision.
The extra money can help with the holidays coming so quickly. It’s always difficult to give up that extra paycheck. But, if you don’t like what you’re doing, it’s not worth it. Good decision!
Hope it works out for you, my wife decided to go back to work for her former employer. Think she got fed up being at home, the extra paycheck certainly helps.
If you need a little extra money, try looking at the MonaVie business. You can stay at home with your kids. Only problem is..you might make much more than a little bit of extra money, ha ha ha. Check out my personal MonaVie site at http://www.mymonavie.com/cafemonavie
Good Luck!!!
As Karen stated in her reply, you should maybe look for a waitress job somewhere else now rather than holding onto a job that you don’t like. June is a long time to wait in a job that is obviously making you unhappy.
