Halloween candy
Nov 5th, 2008 by Kim
Yesterday I was talking to a friend of mine about this past Halloween and I was quite amazed at a remark she made. She has two little people (the same as me) and told me that they have eaten almost all their Halloween candy. Well yesterday was Tuesday so that was a lot of candy to devour in four days. She told me the reason why it is almost gone is because she allowed the kids to eat whatever they wanted. When I questioned her on this she stated that the reason why she did this was so that all the candy would be gone sooner.
Well my two kids each got a pillow case full of candy and we still have quite a bit left over from what we bought and there is no way on this earth that I would allow my kids to pig out on all this candy. Can you say “stomach ache” or “climbing the walls”? Well that’s exactly what would happen at our house. Normally my kids still have candy left over at Christmas time. Plus this saves me a load of money from buying treats at the store. I guess I’ll never understand some people’s line of thinking.
I bet those kids have bad skin!
When I was a kid, I used to try to stretch my candy out until Easter.
You are a very smart lady Kim! I wonder if the other lady had thought of putting some of the candy in the freezer. I know it sounds nutty, but it really is just fine in there and will last for months. In fact :::whispering::: I kept out a few Butterfingers from last Halloween and did just that. I get two or three bite size ones out for when I have a chocolate attack.
I’ve heard of people doing this. My little ones always want candy if it’s in eye’s view. If they don’t see any, they don’t even ask. I can see the logic on both sides, but we usually have our candy through Christmas. Maybe the other mom wanted the kids to eat it all so she wouldn’t, lol.
I wouldn’t want to deal with the upset stomachs after kids eating all that Halloween candy. Although, I wish someone would come into my kitchen and just take all of ours away!
I’d say that mom needs to learn the word, NO. LOL
I’ve realized Halloween is a great time for potty training, lots of treats to choose from as rewards!
I think this is the first year our candy may be gone before Easter comes around.
My son is still pretty young and so he didn’t get much candy to begin with. But I only let him have a tiny bit that night and then some the next day. The rest goes into the treat jar that is picked through by all of us over the course of several months. If he gets any of the candy it is for dessert or for a special occasion or if his daddy gives in.
Thats crazy. In our house we hide the candy for that purpose that the kiddies wont go crazy. Do those kids even sleep??
It seems to be that mom is really love kids a lot than MONEY. (lol)
