I think it is really a stupid thing of doing homework by the parents. The collage, science mini-project, Pythogras theorem demo, etc really sucks me. I think the syllabus for the classes need to be refined in such a way that no parents should help the children especially in school project.

I don't have any school-age children myself, but I have a friend who is continually calling me for help that she needs in doing her son's homework. And some of the projects they have to do are unbelievably complicated. How the teachers can expect a youngster to do these by themselves is beyond me! Maybe it's just their way of getting even for sending the little devils to their classes!!!

I hear ya! We spent the entire weekend cutting pictures from magazines to make this stupid, huge collage for my daughter's reading class. Not exactly what I wanted to spend my weekend doing.

I remember my science project years ago back in my country. There was always a student who had a commercial looking project and it was so obvious that this child was helped by his parents.

I know what you mean. I think teachers should make homework and projects easy enough that the kids could do it without parents help. I remember when we had to do science projects. Some of them were so elaborate, I knew the kids didn't do them. I always thought it very unfair that parents "helped" their kids with homework. It seemed homework should be the kids' responsibility. It seemed like many parents didn't know how to help without doing it for them.
