They have become quite the little shoppers

Earlier this week my children’s school had their annual Santa’s workshop. This is an event where the children can go and purchase some small presents for their different family members. All the gifts are $3.00 or less. The only catch is that they are only allowed to purchase three items. This way all the children in the school will get to do a little shopping. So on Wednesday both kids headed out the door with their $10.00 to do a little shopping.
Well they both came home from school quite pleased with their shopping experience. They were both able to purchase a gift for each other, their grandfather and his wife, their father and myself. They did really well with the gifts they purchased and made sure that all the gifts they purchased the receiver would enjoy. I must say that I was quite pleased with the gift my 8 year old son purchased me (yeah I know he shouldn’t have given it to me yet, but he couldn’t wait) and will treasure it for years to come.
I always knew that both of my kids were generous old souls and after seeing all their purchases from their Santa’s workshop, I now know that to be so true. They did real good for a 10 year old and an 8 year old.
I think that is a great idea. It also teaches the kids a little bit about money and spending and what they can get for $3. It allows them to have a successful shopping experience. I wish they had something like that at my kids’ school.
How sweet! Some of my favorite gifts are the little things my kids have bought me with their own money or made (even though sometimes I can’t quite tell what it is supposed to be!). It is so endearing to know they put their heart and soul into choosing just the right gift or making something from the heart. It sounds like you have great kids!
We used to have that when we were kids too. I think it’s really when I learned the joy of giving and how to shop for others. It’s cute you got to open it so early. My husband has the same problem waiting until my birthday or Christmas to give me presents. I often will get something early!
My daughter’s school has this event on a weekend. I suppose it’s because they don’t want those children, whose parents can’t afford to give a few extra bucks to, to feel bad if they can’t shop while the others are.
kids can be very thoughtful, it’s what makes being a mom all worth it…
there’s only a couple of weeks left till christmas, you should’ve put it under the tree and opened it then, but i understand the excitement…
It is good for school children and it will lead to their knowledge enhancements. They are also exposed to outside environment. Good ideas and development for school children.
