Scary trip to town
Jan 12th, 2009 by Kim
This week my husband is on vacation. So this meant that we needed to take a trip in town yesterday to drop off his work truck so the other mechanic could use it for the week. Now the only problem with this trip was the fact that it was snowing outside and had been all day. But the truck had to go back so we decided that as long as we drove slowly, we would be OK.
Thankfully my husband was driving in front of me when the unthinkable happened. My car started to go into a skid and headed toward a snow bank. Thankfully we weren’t traveling very fast. Because my husband was continuously looking out for me, he seen the problem I was having with my car, turned his truck around and stopped to see if I was OK. I was and he got me back on the road. As far as the damage to my car, it was only minor so I was lucky in both cases.
The thing I was most thankful for was the fact that the two kids were driving with him in his truck. I was OK, they were OK and we made it back home relatively unscathed. Hopefully this will be my one and only experience with my car and a snowbank for the remainder of the season.
Oh wow. I am so glad you were ok.
Skidding is always scary. I’m glad everyone is okay. We were driving to a couples retreat one winter for Valentines Day and a big snow storm came up while we were on the highway. We couldn’t even see 20 feet in front of us. The road was all snowcovered so couldn’t see any lines. Only thing I could do was follow those red lights that were in front of me. Then we skidded and spun around. It was a miracle we didn’t hit anything and that no one hit us.
That IS scary! I’m glad you’re okay. Did you make your husband drive on the way back?
Thanks guys! yeah it was pretty scary. And yes Lynne, you bet I made him drive home. lol And I made him stop and buy me a coffee too to calm my rattled nerves.
I’ve only every skidded once, and boy was it an experience! I think I felt myself slide, and I did the no-no of slamming on my brakes,,, and felt the car make a donut… Thankfully no one else was around for me to hit… I stayed on the road, didn’t need assistance… so after a few minutes to get my heart rate and shaking down to a better level, I started the car and continued
Glad you had your husband to help you out! Heading into a snowbank is no fun!
Thanks to God, that you are alright.
