Time moving on

There is less than two weeks left before my children are back in school. To say this is an event that makes me seriously happy, is a major understatement. This has been a very long summer and I can’t wait until it’s over. My son is going into grade 5 and my daughter is going into 7. I have most of their school supplies and clothes bought but still need to pick up a few items. I’m really hoping the next two weeks goes by fast. Then I will have my summer vacation. lol

New career opportunity

As you all know I do some general transcription work from home. And I absolutely love it! Well lately I have been doing a bit of medical transcription as well and I have discovered that I absolutely love working in this field. So I have been thinking about enrolling in a medical assistant school and making this line of work my new career. I have checked out several different sites online and have discovered that this is something that I think I could be really good at. The kids go back to school in three weeks and when they do, I really do think I’m going to look into this type of career a little bit more closely.

Grading presents

Well I’m happy to report that both of kids passed their school year. My daughter will be going into grade 7 and my son will be headed off to grade 5. So we needed to purchase a couple of grading presents. This time of year is always pretty expensive for us, so I decided to use a couple of the coupons that I had saved to try to save some money. So they both got a present for a job well done. Next purchases will be birthday presents and then it’s time once again to get them ready for school. So you can just bet that I will be clipping more coupons over the summer.

Time is slipping by

I can’t believe that there is only three weeks of school left for this year. Both the kids had an amazing year and my daughter actually made the honor roll! I couldn’t be any prouder of both of them than I am right now. So… now it’s time to find some grading presents. I have been looking at some personalized basketballs and although I think this would be an awesome gift for my son, I don’t think it would impress my daughter that much. But thankfully I still have three weeks to come up with these presents. Hopefully I’ll find something pretty special for both of them.

Middle school health class

My daughter came home with a permission slip from her school yesterday regarding a delicate matter. She is required to take a health class at her school and she really doesn’t want to. Oh she really doesn’t mind looking up lipofuze reviews and stuff like that, but when it comes to talking about the human body, she gets a little squeamish. But I signed the form so she will be taking this class. I’m sure the teacher’s will make it as tasteful as they can and hopefully in the end she learns something and isn’t quite so embarrassed about sitting in this class.

I think the bullying has finally stopped

After seven months in the school system, I think the bullying that was targeted towards my daughter has finally stopped. Every day I question her about her day and lately she has had no complaints. So I really think my latest trip into the school may have helped. I really hope she can get through the next couple of months with no more incidents. But… if it does happen to start up once again, you can just bet that I’ll be camping out in the Principal’s office once again.

Bullying in middle school

So once again I had to head down to my daughter’s middle school and have a talk to her vice principal about the fact that my child is STILL getting bullied. This child has been being bullied by one other girl since she started middle school and I’m done with it. In October I took a trip to the school and talked to the vice principal about it. Honestly I had thought it had stopped. Well it hadn’t. Now this girl has other kids bullying my daughter as well. This school has a zero tolerance policy for bullying in their schools and I am just the mother to make sure this policy gets enforced.

And the reason why my daughter is getting bullied?? It’s because she is best friends with another kid that this bully doesn’t like. I wouldn’t care if my daughter was big and needed a quick weight loss program or if she had lots of pimples, there is no excuse in this world for bullying. So now that I’ve said my peace, we will see what happens. This needs to stop! And it needs to stop now!

March break

So both kids are now home on March break. And if this past weekend was any indication of what I’m going to be in for this upcoming week, then I honestly want no part of it. The kids spent the entire weekend fighting and they still have seven weeks on their break. This is why I absolutely hate it when they have any amount of time off from school. You would think, that they would just be happy to have a little break from school and spend this time playing and relaxing. But nope, it’s much more fun for them to fight and drive me nuts. I’ll be sure to let you all know how my week is going later on in the week. But, I don’t think I’m going to be posting that this has been a great week.

Excellent marks

On Friday both the children will be bringing home their first report cards of the year. Now normally they both do really well, but this year my daughter has outdone herself. At the first of the year her and I made a deal that if she came home with all A’s on her report card, I would purchase her a new DS game. Well, I think I’m going to have to make that purchase. Right now she has high honors in Grade 6!

She is very focused on doing well as she wants to become a vet later on down the road and knows that she will need to have seriously high marks to get some scholarships and bursaries to help her in her dreams. She’ll probably still have to find student loans to help her out as well, but she knows the higher her marks (yes, even in grade 6) the better her chances are of receiving award money. Honestly I can’t express how proud I am of her. And I really, really hope this trend continues.

Skating today

Today my son’s class will be going on their second skating trip of the year. And… I want to go stand in a rink for an hour like I want a second hole in my head. For the past three days I have had a wicked bad headache and I just don’t think standing in a cold rink is going to do it any good. But, the little guy wants me to go, so off I will go. Before I head to the rink I plan on stopping at my favorite coffee shop and buying an extra large coffee. Hopefully this will help. And when I get home I plan on staying off the computer and going to lay down for a while.
