While watching TV last night I seen a commercial from a company selling a external hard drive for your computer. This is one item that I have decided that I just have to have. Although my computer has it’s own built in hard drive, I still want an external one to be able to back up all my work. With working on the Internet as much as I do I have a lot of information on my current computer that I would just hate to lose if anything thing went wrong. But if I had an external hard drive, I would have that extra sense of security that all my work would be safe. Now all I have to do is convince my husband that this item is a must have product.

New bedding set

My husband absolutely detests when I start changing around the furniture or changing around rooms. Well I have been at it again. This time it was my bedroom that I decided to rearrange. I just get so tired of looking at the same old thing day after day. So I have completely rearranged the furniture and next plan to buy a new bedding set. I really want to change the colors in the room. And I plan on buying some new pillows as well. I really want some ostrich feathers filled pillows. I have heard that they are so soft and comfortable to sleep on. I haven’t told my husband of these latest plans and I don’t intend to. He will just have to see what I’ve done after I’ve done it. Then it’s too late to do anything about it except complain.

She’s getting a hair cut!

My daughter who is almost 10 is going to get her hair cut. Now this probably doesn’t seem like a huge deal to you all. But it is and I’m going to explain why.

She has never had a hair cut in almost 10 years. She has had her bangs trimmed and the ends evened out, but that’s it. So she has tons and tons of hair. Her hair is now down past her “butt”. For the past three years she has expressed an interest in getting her hair cut and donating this hair to the cancer society for wigs.

Almost three years ago Kara’s grandmother was diagnosed with cancer and had to go through the chemo treatments. Needless to say she lost most of her hair. So that’s when Kara decided she wanted to get her hair cut for cancer. She wanted to donate a wig to her grandmother. Since that time her grandmother has passed away so Kara now wants to donate her hair to a child in need of a wig.

I couldn’t be more proud of her. As soon as our local saloon can set it up with the cancer society, Kara will be getting her hair cut.

I hate fake phone calls

For the past couple of days I have received a couple of phone calls from scammers. The phone calls consisted of an automated telephone service telling me that I have won a couple of Caribbean cruises. All I need to do is press 9 and follow their directions. Yeah, right….Press nine and end up with a huge telephone bill with no prize at the end of it. Of course I just hang up when I hear the message starting, but it does seriously annoy me. I don’t understand why some people feel the need to scam other’s. Do they not have anything better in their lives to do?? One of these days I will go on a cruise, but it will be a legitimate one and won’t cost me 1000’s of dollars in telephone bills.

Camping in the yard

Because the last few weekends have been pretty crappy and we haven’t been able to go camping much this season my husband has decided to put up the trailer in our yard and let the kids camp out in it tonight. He will be with them since he doesn’t have to work tomorrow. He asked if I would like to join them, but I have declined and would much rather sleep in my own bed than out in the yard. The kids are quite excited about this event taking place and can’t wait to sleep in our yard. I wish them all the best and I’ll be dreaming about them while I am nice and comfy in my own queen sized bed. lol

Watching TV

Why is it that when a person sits down to watch a family show on TV, the writers of the shows need to throw in some gross scenes like throwing up, tons of blood or a colon cleanser scene? If it’s a family show, don’t you think that they could produce it a little better than that? Last night we sat down to watch a movie that was rated G and I was amazed at how much violence was displayed on the TV. Thankfully the kids weren’t up at this time so they weren’t exposed to it. But if they had of been we would have had to change the channel. These types of things are all right for adults, but certainly not for children under the age of 14. I just don’t understand people sometimes.

My memory is not the greatest

I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older or what, but I certainly don’t have a great memory like I did years ago. I’ve never had a great long term memory, but my short term memory used to be pretty adequate. Now I find myself re-thinking everything. I realize that as the older a person gets, the more memory loss they have, but having just turned 40, I think this probably shouldn’t be happening to me right now. Right now this problem that I’m having isn’t serious, it’s just quite annoying. If I’m this bad at 40, I shudder to think what 50 will bring me.

I’m thinking about holding a contest

Lately as I’ve been surfing many different types of blogs I have been coming across a lot of cool contests. So this got me to thinking about possibly holding a small contest of my own. It wouldn’t be very big as it would just be a test to see how this may work out, but I would like it to be fun. But, I’m seriously clueless on how to about doing it.

So I have some questions for all you contest holders out there. Do you supply your prizes or do you find sponsors to help you out? If you use sponsors, how do you find them? How long would you run your contest for, and to get the most participation out of your contest, what requirements do you ask for people to gain entries.

I’d like to thank you for any and all responses in my quest. And maybe soon I’ll be hosting a contest of my very own.

High cost of living

Why is it that when a person goes to purchase something important like term life insurance the prices are so outrageous that you almost have second thoughts about making this commitment. I am a firm believer in life insurance and having yourself covered, but what good is coverage if you can’t afford to pay for it? Last week I went to renew my policy and was dumbfounded about the increase in the payments every month. But it’s something I have to have, so I will have to pay it. I’m just not really happy with the increase for what I would consider a necessity of life.
